Who is the fellowship for?
The deadline for applications is June 11, 2023.
“Our youths have a clear vision of the future. Indeed they know that the dithering over climate action by policy makers endangers their future and that of all beings on Earth. I wholeheartedly support this initiative. Onward, young people! ”
– Nnimmo Bassey, Founder of Mother Earth Foundation & Alternative Nobel Award Winner
“Young people are at the heart of the climate fight, and so it makes great sense to help them build up their power quickly and with all the assistance that they need. This project is a perfect example of what’s needed”
– Bill McKibben, Founder of 350.org & Winner of the Alternative Nobel Award
“Throughout the history of change in the world, it was young people who helped lead the way. They challenged the status quo through their bravery, courage, and audacity. This is a call to action not a burden of responsibility and we all need to stand shoulder to shoulder with our youth to achieve a better world for all”
– Tasneem Essop, Executive Director of CAN International
“Young people are on the frontlines of the climate crisis but also on the frontlines of the fight for climate justice. A fellowship like this is a good place for empowerment and working together as a movement”
– Vanessa Nakate, Climate Justice Activist and Founder of RiseUp Movement
Everybody who is a climate advocate, activist or organizer and between 18 and 30 years on June 30, 2023. In addition, you need to be part of an organization, movement or grassroots group. This fellowship is meant to serve the climate movement and strengthen our collective power. In the application form you need to provide details and a contact of your organization. Global South activists and activists from marginalized groups will be prioritized.
The deadline for applications is June 11, 2023, 23:59 UTC+12. Apply here .
The first cohort of the fellowship is 18 months, but we encourage the fellows to stay connected and further the relationships built even after the official term of the fellowship
Strategize, organize, fight the climate fight. The fellowship is meant to support you and your kick-a** activism. Fellows are expected to take part in joint calls and training, collaborate with other fellows on joint projects and join in-person meetings as fitting.
The climate crisis demands an intersectional approach. If you are a strong movement organizer fighting an important struggle and plan to build bridges with the climate movement, you are very much invited to apply. The first cohort will focus on the climate movement and we invite activists from different disciplines, backgrounds, and social justice groups to join in order to strengthen our intersectional fight for climate justice.
We know the importance of taking a break. Everybody needs them. We also understand that circumstances might change in a way that you cannot continue the fellowship at all- in such a case, we will jointly evaluate with you whether to pause or end the fellowship.
Everybody in the fellowship will receive 500USD per month. This support is meant to take burden from you as an activist to work on the side and enable focussing on campaigning and organizing. However, tax regulation is vastly different across the globe and in some countries you might need to pay taxes on these stipends/payments.
The first step is to fill in the application form . See who can apply (question 1). Among all applicants, the most promising will move forward and will be interviewed in June 2023 – the evaluation of the questionnaire will be handled by a diverse group of grassroots organizers.
The idea for this fellowship was developed by the movement for the movement. The fellowship is fiscally hosted by TogetherforFuture and implemented in partnership with 350.org.
